For 10 years Mija a young girl had been growing up and living with Okja - a massive animal and even a bigger friend - in the mountains of South Korea. But it all changes one day when the multinational conglomerate Mirando Corp takes Okja for their own business plans. This leaves the young but determined girl to set out and rescue her companion.

This movie takes our imagination and applies them to the meat obsessed industry, sprinkled with humor throughout the movie’s run. Lead by the big names in the cast such as Tilda Swindon, Jake Gyllenhaal and that guy who was in Walking Dead. The theme of the movie rotates around friendship, morality and examines our relationship with the meat and the source it came from. In this movie we are brought along the ride with Mija, as she travels from Korea to USA to save Okja, the Animal Liberation Front whose job is to bring awareness to animal cruelty and the Mirando corporation who tries to mask their capitalism via genetically modifying livestock to make them “taste freaking good”. The soundtrack was brilliant with the right music injected at the appropriate time to evoke just the right response from the viewer.
